Add some Spring to your step with these new restaurants!

On February 2, 2013, Groundhog Day,  the groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, did not see his shadow. This means that spring will come earlier this year.

With spring coming near, why not spring out and try one of Waiter.com's recently added restaurants?

In the mood for some seafood? Then why not try out the recently added Little Whale Restaurant  located in Milbrae, California? You can enjoy something as simple as a Tuna Sandwich or try the Salmon and Mushrooms sauteed with Lobster Sauce.
Whatever dish you decide, you should have a whale of a good time!

Not to be overshadowed, Veggie Grill in San Jose, California, is also a new restaurant recently added to the Waiter.com family. The restaurant provides great vegetarian items such as a Vegetarian Cheeseburger and a Chipotle BBQ Burger made with a veggie steak. You and your friends/co-workers will have a wonderful time veggin' out on these meals.

Finally, if you want to add some spice to the spring in your step, then check out La Salsa. Waiter.com currently offers delivery from La Salsa locations in Milpitas and Mountain View. Are you really hungry? Then try the Overstuffed Grilled Burrito. Looking for something on the lighter side? Then try the Soup & Salad combo.

Feel free to check out these restaurants and more at Waiter.com! There is a $35 food minimum for each order and an $8.95 delivery charge and 15% driver support fee.

The Extinct Technology Admins Want Back

Happy Administrative Professionals Week! Waiter.com works with these unsung heroes daily to make their office food orders fast, simple and cost effective.

Thank you for all you do to keep the office engines running!

Did you know?
The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) recently surveyed admins about office innovation.

What's the number one thing they'd love to see back?
About 25% responded with the electric typewriter.

More popular responses are a walk down memory lane:

  • Rolodex
  • Dictaphone
  • Adding machine
  • microfiche
  • mimeograph machine
That doesn't mean they're not the first to embrace leading edge technology. IAAP members alone will be responsible for $33 million in corporate spending for office equipment this year. Constantly emerging new technologies, increased workloads, and doing more with less... just a few reasons to be honored and celebrated this week and every day.

Nominate your office's admin for 100,000 WaiterPoints on Facebook!

If your admin is the office hero, nominate them today on our Facebook wall and they could win 100,000 WaiterPoints! Include their:
  • name
  • company
  • why they're the office engine

Don't forget to check out this month's double WaiterPoints restaurant here!

Things You Didn't Know About Valentine's Day

So, our Facebook promo this week is $100 towards Valentine's Dinner. If you want a shot at winning, post a picture of your favorite Hollywood romance on our wall. That way if you win, no matter what your feelings are towards Vday, you can still eat your heart out!

But you didn't click on this post to talk about love. You want to know some weird things about Valentine's Day. Without further ado, let's give you what you want!

  • The average American will spend $119.67 on Valentine’s Day this year, up from $100.89 last year.
  • Men spend almost twice as much on Valentine’s Day as women do. This year, the average man will spend $156, while the average woman will only spend $85.
  • More than one-third of men would prefer not receiving a gift. Less than 20 percent of women feel the same way.
  • Around this season, a dozen long-stemmed roses can cost an average of $75, or about 30% more than the normal price of $58.
  • More than nine million pet owners are expected to buy gifts for their pets this Valentine's Day.
  • 15 percent of U.S. women send themselves flowers on Valentine's Day.
  • More at-home pregnancy tests are sold in March than in any other month.
  • Penicillin, a popular treatment for venereal diseases such as syphilis, was introduced to the world on February 14, 1929.
  • Teachers receive the most valentines, followed by kids, mothers, wives and sweethearts.
  • Over 50 percent of all Valentine's Day cards are purchased in the six days prior to the holiday.
  • The oldest surviving valentine dates from 1415. It is a poem written by Charles, Duke of Orleans to his wife. At the time, the duke was being held in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt.
  • One billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making it the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. Women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.

PS: If you do win the Vday promo, check out the new 2xWaiterPoints restaurants for February here.

3 Things to Eat For a Fit Belly

So, I'll admit that over the holidays (that aren't officially over til next week) I've been stuffing my face like Santa was stuffing stockings. Although it's been delicious, it hasn't been pretty.

We got the new website rolled out and ready for prime time on Christmas Eve, but other than that things have been kind of quiet and focused on festivities. This is why I found myself in a food coma on the couch the other day watching Dr. Oz in my elastic waistband pants.

I'm not a regular viewer, but the topic that day caught my interest because I'm definitely dedicated to taking off the holiday poundage beginning Jan 1. This means making healthier selections when using VCS at work. Yep, we use our own Virtual Cafeteria Service at the Waiter.com batcave! Just makes life easier for everybody, especially our beloved admins who already have a thousand things to do besides hunting everyone down to see what they want for lunch. Anyway....

Here are the three superfoods that Dr. Oz claims can blast belly fat. I'm going to be incorporating them into my diet and selecting healthier menu choices from our restaurants during our daily lunch delivery. I'll let you know how it goes!

  • Miso. Dr Oz said that one of the reasons that women in Japan might be so skinny is because they eat so much Miso Soup. He said by eating about a cup of it daily you can reduce triglycerides in your body. Check. I can order that from plenty of our restaurants.
  • Goldenberries. Doctor Oz said that Golden Berries are a vegetable that come from Brazil, but they are becoming more and more popular in America. You can find either Dried Goldenberries or the whole form (if your supermarket carries them fresh). In addition to having a unique taste, Golden Berries are packed with B-Complex Vitamins that are essential for your metabolism. He said to try eating 1/4 cup of Golden Berries every day. I think I'm going to get some dried ones to keep at my desk and add to salads. Let's face it, I do not have time to pack my lunch every day.
  • Sauerkraut. Unfortunately, not on hot dogs. He said sauerkraut is great at getting rid of belly fat because fermented foods contain probiotics that control how our gut metabolizes food and how get calories into our bodies. He said if we don't have healthy bacteria in our guts, then our bodies tend to absorb more calories. Personally, I only eat sauerkraut on hot dogs or with other overly processed meats that probably aren't helping shrink my spare tire. So, he suggests adding it onto a turkey sandwich with whole grain bread. Easy enough because we often have Togo's Sandwich shop as an option. I can do this.

Anyone else resolving to lose weight in 2012? I'll keep you posted on my progress, but in the meantime feel free to leave a comment with any other advice or suggestions! Happy New Year!
